Several government entities and local utilities offer electric vehicle and solar incentives for customers, often taking the form of a rebate or a tax credit. Rebates can be claimed at or after purchase, while tax credits are claimed when filing income taxes. Find state and local-specific incentives available in your area.

Individuals may be eligible for a variety of state incentives in addition to federal incentives when they purchase a vehicle for personal use. Review the full list of state incentives.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act
Eligible individuals can receive up to a $10,000 deduction on loan interest when they purchase a new passenger vehicle under 14,000 pounds (gross vehicle weight) with final assembly completed in the U.S., purchased after December 31, 2024, and before January 1, 2029. The vehicle must be used for personal use. Used vehicles and leases do not qualify. There is no limit on the number of qualifying vehicles or loans, as long as the eligibility criteria are met.
The deduction begins phasing out for modified adjusted gross incomes over $100,000 (single) or $200,000 (married, filing jointly), reducing by 20% for every $10,000 above the threshold until it reaches zero.
To claim the deduction, report the VIN on your tax return. Lenders must issue Form 1098-like statements for interest of $600+ received in the year.

Section 179 Deduction
Qualifying businesses may claim a deduction of up to $31,300 when purchasing a new Tesla vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of at least 6,000 pounds. To qualify for the tax deduction, vehicles must be operated for legitimate business use >50% the time.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit
If you install EV or bidirectional charging equipment at your home or business before June 30, 2026, you may be eligible for the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Tax Credit.
Note: Property must be located in an eligible census tract and be placed in service by the program deadline.
Home Installation
For an installation at your home, the credit equals 30% of the combined cost of the installation, charging equipment and related material, up to a maximum credit of $1,000 per item. The home must be your primary residence.
Business Installation
For an installation at your business, the credit equals 6% of the combined cost of the installation, charging equipment and related material, up to a maximum credit of $100,000 per item. The property must be depreciable.

Depending on your location, state and local utility incentives may be available for electric vehicles and solar systems. Most rebates can either be claimed after purchase or reflected as a reduction in the price of your purchase.
Many states also offer non-cash incentives for electric vehicles, such as carpool lane access and free municipal parking.
Some communities and utility companies also offer additional incentives through cash back, discounted rate plans and other credits.

- Alabama Power offers the Home Charger Rebate Program for a rebate of up to $500 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector.
- Alabama Power offers a discounted TOU rate to residential customers that own or lease an electric vehicle. The optional rate rider allows customers to charge their EV at a discounted rate during off-peak hours.

- The State of Arizona offers the Solar Energy Credit incentive for a tax credit of up to 25% of the installation costs of solar panels up to $1,000. Homeowners are responsible for submitting the application for this tax credit.

- Salt River Project offers the Home electric vehicle (EV) charger program for a rebate of up to $250 for the purchase of Tesla Wall Connector.
- Tucson Electric Power offers the TEP EV Charger for a rebate of up to $300 of the purchase of Tesla Wall Connector covers 75% of the initial purchase cost (before tax and after any discounts, rebates, or manufacturer points/rewards), up to $300.
- SRP and APS offer reduced electricity rates based on time-of-use charging for EV owners.
- Tucson Electric Power offers three pricing plans for electric vehicle charging. Customers can reduce their energy bills by charging their EV during off-peak hours of 10 PM to 5 a.m. daily and shifting the majority of their energy usage to off-peak hours.

- Tucson Electric Power customers can earn up to $800 per home backup battery each year by enrolling Powerwall in Tesla Virtual Power Plant Powered by TEP Energy Storage Rewards. Enrolled Powerwalls support the grid during high-demand times by exporting energy or reducing load, earning bill credits in return.
- Arizona Public Service customers can earn up to $400 per home backup battery each year by enrolling Powerwall in Tesla Virtual Power Plant Powered by Arizona Public Service (APS). Enrolled Powerwalls support the grid during high-demand times by exporting energy or reducing load, earning bill credits in return.

- The Drive Clean Assistance Program (DCAP) is available to income-qualified California residents who are eligible to participate. Individuals must receive approval from the program prior to purchasing or leasing a clean-air vehicle. DCAP offers two pathways to getting a clean air vehicle:
- Financing Assistance: California residents are eligible for up to $7,500 toward a new or pre-owned EV, and financing up to $45,000 at an interest rate of 8% or less. Income and purchase price caps apply.
- Clean Cars 4 All: California residents recycling an older internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle are eligible for up to $12,000 toward a new or pre-owned EV. Income and purchase price caps apply. Loan assistance available. Find your implementing Air District.

- The City of Pasadena offers residents a rebate up to $250 when they purchase or lease a new or pre-owned plug-in EV and an additional $1,000 for those enrolled in an income-qualifying PWP program.
- Pasadena Water and Power customers can receive up to $1,250 rebate for buying/leasing an EV, and businesses can receive up to $50,000 for installing public EV chargers.
- PG&E offers rebates up to $4,000 for the purchase or lease of a pre-owned vehicle.
- San Jose Clean Energy offers up to $4,000 off the purchase or lease of new or pre-owned electric vehicles.
- Incentive of up to $4,000 for purchase of a pre-owned EV for low-income San Mateo residents.
- Silicon Valley Clean Energy offers an EV rebate program that offers a $2,000 rebate toward the purchase or lease of an EV. Income restrictions apply.
- Southern California Edison (SCE) offers rebates up to $1,000 for a pre-owned electric vehicle. An additional $3,000 is available for customers who do not meet certain income requirements.

- Alameda Municipal Power offers the Residential EV Charger program for a rebate of up to $500 for the purchase and installation of Tesla Wall Connector.
- Anaheim Public Utilities offers the Private Use EV Charger program for a rebate of up to $300 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector. An increased incentive value of up to $600 is available for installation of Networked Wall Connector and enrollment in an approved time-of-use rate.
- Bay Area Air District offers the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Program for a rebate of up to $2,000 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector. Up to $1,000 rebate available for purchase of Tesla Mobile Connector.
- The City of Burbank Water & Power offers the Residential EV Charging Station Program for a rebate of up to $500 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector. An additional rebate of up to $750 is available towards electrical upgrade costs required for installation of home charger.
- The City of Burbank Water & Power offers the Disadvantaged Community (DAC) Residential EV Charging Station Program for a rebate of up to $600 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector. An additional rebate of up to $900 is available towards electrical upgrade costs required for installation of home charger.
- Glendale Water & Power offers the Residential EV Charging Station Rebate Program for a rebate of up to $599 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector. An additional rebate of up to $800 is available towards electrical upgrade costs required for installation of home charger.
- City of Lodi offers the EV Charger – Residential & EV Charger Install – Residential for a rebate of up to $1,000 of the purchase and installation of Tesla Wall Connector.
- Los Angeles Department of Water & Power offers the Residential EV Charger Rebate Program for a rebate of up to $1,000 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector. An additional rebate of up to $250 is available for the installation of a dedicated EV Meter.
- Modesto Irrigation District offers the EV Charger Rebate Program for a rebate of up to $350 for the purchase of Tesla Wall Connector limited to two total (one per vehicle and one per household).
- Pasadena Water and Power offers the Pasadena Water and Power Residential Charger Incentive for a rebate of up to $600 for the purchase of Tesla Wall Connector.
- Rancho Mirage Energy Authority offers the ChargeUp Rancho Mirage EV Charger Program- Rebate for a rebate of up to $500 for the purchase and installation of Tesla Wall Connector. Incentive amounts vary based on years of service with RMAE.
- Riverside Utilities Department offers the EV Level 2 Residential Charger Rebate for a rebate of up to $500 for the purchase and installation of Tesla Wall Connector.
- Roseville Electric Utility offers the Roseville Level 2 charger rebate $200 for a rebate of up to $200 for the purchase of Tesla Wall Connector.
- Silicon Valley Power offers the Silicon Valley Power EV Charging Station Rebate for a rebate of up to $550 for the purchase and installation of Tesla Wall Connector.
- South Coast Air Quality Management District offers the Residential EV Charging Incentive Program for a rebate of up to $500 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector. This rebate is only available to residents who demonstrate proof of low-income qualification through a utility assistance program.
- Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing allows property owners to borrow funds to pay for energy improvements, including purchasing and installing Tesla Wall Connector.
- The California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority offers the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Loss Reserve Program allowing customers to borrow funds to pay for energy improvements including the purchase and installation of Wall Connector.

- Anaheim Public Utilities offers the Battery Storage Program for a rebate of up to $3,000 for the installation of Powerwall. Homeowners are responsible for submitting the application for this rebate.
- Central Coast Community Energy offers the Residential Battery Rebate for a rebate of up to $7,800 for the installation of Powerwall. Participants must program the home backup battery to discharge during peak hours. Homeowners are responsible for submitting the application for this rebate.
- PG&E offers the Permanent Battery Storage Rebate Program for a rebate of up to $7,500 for the installation of Powerwall. Homeowners are responsible for submitting the application for this rebate.
- PG&E, SCE and SDG&E customers can earn up to $60/kW off the cash or financing price of a Tesla solar system by giving Tesla ownership of the Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) your system generates. This discount provides you with the future value of your SREC sales immediately, while Tesla takes full responsibility for tracking, managing and selling the SRECs over time. Tesla oversees all required steps, including registration, compliance and SREC transactions, while managing risks such as fluctuations in energy production and shifts in state or program regulations.
- San Diego Community Power offers the Solar Battery Savings Program for a rebate of up to $350/kWh for the installation of Powerwall. Tesla will submit the rebate application on behalf of eligible customers who purchase through Tesla.
- SMUD customers can earn up to $440 per home backup battery each year by enrolling Powerwall in Tesla Virtual Power Plant Powered by SMUD My Energy Optimizer® Partner+. Enrolled Powerwalls support the grid during high-demand times by exporting energy or reducing load, earning payment in return.
- SMUD offers the My Energy Optimizer Partner+ for a rebate of up to $8,000 for the installation of Powerwall. Homeowners must enroll in the Tesla Virtual Power Plant using the Tesla app after system activation to apply for this rebate.
- The Clean Power Alliance offers the Sun Storage Rebate Program for a rebate of up to $750 for the installation of Powerwall. Homeowners are responsible for submitting the application for this rebate.

- Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association offers the Level 2 EV Charger Rebate for a rebate of up to 50% of purchase and installation costs of Tesla Wall Connector. Maximum rebate of up to $1,000 for customers enrolled in the DrivEV Smart Charging Rewards Program or Time-of-Use Rate.

- Fort Collins Utilities offers the Residential Solar Rebate Program for a rebate of up to $1,500 for the installation of solar panels. Tesla will submit the rebate application on behalf of eligible customers who purchase through Tesla.
- Fort Collins Utilities offers the Residential Battery Storage Program for a rebate of up to $6,000 for the installation of Powerwall when paired with solar panels. Tesla will submit the rebate application on behalf of eligible customers who purchase through Tesla.
- The City of Centennial's Building Department offers the Home Improvement Program for a rebate of up to $300 for the installation of solar panels. Homeowners are responsible for submitting the application for this rebate.

An additional ongoing incentive of up to $300 per year may be available for consistent participation in the CT EV Charging Program.
- Norwich Public Utilities offers the Charging Equipment Rebate for a rebate of up to $1,000 for the installation of Tesla Wall Connector.

- Connecticut Green Bank offers the Energy Storage Solutions Program for a rebate of up to $212/kWh for the installation of Powerwall. Participants must enroll in the Tesla Virtual Power Plant with Connecticut Energy Storage Solutions to qualify. Tesla will submit the rebate application on behalf of eligible customers who purchase through Tesla.
- Eversource and United Illuminating customers can earn up to $648 per home backup battery each year by enrolling Powerwall in Tesla Virtual Power Plant Powered by Connecticut Energy Storage Solutions. Enrolled Powerwalls support the grid during high-demand times by exporting energy or reducing load, earning payment in return.

- Delaware Electric Cooperative is offering a one-time $100 billing credit and an additional $5 monthly billing credit during the summer for EV owners who limit the use of their EV chargers during Beat the Peak alerts.
- Eligible Delmarva Power residential customers in Delaware can receive a special time-of-use (TOU) rate specific to Plug-In Vehicle (EV) charging. The remainder of your home will stay on your residential electric rate. The PIV Rate provides the benefit of reduced electric bills for customers when you charge your vehicle during off-peak hours (8:00 PM – 12:00 PM on weekdays, and all hours during the weekend).

This can be applied in the year that the energy system is installed. An additional 20% can be deducted in each of the following three years. The maximum deduction in any one year is $5,000. The total maximum deduction is $20,000. Homeowners are responsible for submitting the application for this tax deduction.
